The "IT PAYS" Program is a cooperative program between the Fortuna Police Department, Fortuna High School, participating Fortuna Merchants and the students of the Fortuna High School District. The program is designed to recognize those students who make a commitment to be free from tobacco, alcohol, drugs and crime. Students will be eligible to receive discounts at the participating Merchants by presenting their "IT PAYS" identification card and their Student Body Card. Additionally, participating students will be eligible for drawings for prizes and cash awards.
The student would present to the participating business a 2005/2006 Student Body Card and the 2005/2006 "IT PAYS" Card. The student may then receive the discount as determined by the business. In order to participate in the program and receive an "IT PAYS" card the student must sign a contract that they will not use tobacco, alcohol or drugs and not engage in criminal misconduct. If any students violate the conditions of the contract they will be required to give up their "IT PAYS" card immediately. If students fail to give up their card they then give the Fortuna Police Department and/or the Fortuna High School District permission to release their names to the participating merchants.
If your business would like to participate in this program please contact Youth Services Officer Sandi Bertain at the Fortuna Police Department at 725-7550. The participating businesses will receive an "IT PAYS" sign to display, identifying their participation in the program.
