In January of 2005, the Fortuna Police Department began a new program called the Citizen's Police Academy. Fortuna residents attended the six-week course for one night a week, learning the inner workings of our Police Department. The program covered such areas as:
Community Oriented Policing
Use of Force and the Use of Deadly Force
Arrest and Control Procedures
Gangs and Prevention
High Risk Vehicle Stops
Personal Safety and Self-Defense
First-Aid
Crime Prevention, and
Other Areas of Interest
Fortuna Citizens who are 18 years of age or older are invited to sign up for the next Citizen's Academy (date to be announced). Please contact Chief Kris Kitna for further information, 707-725-7550.
